Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Spit, a macOS application ("the App") developed and distributed by Spit ("we", "us"). By downloading or using the App, you agree to these Terms.
1. The App and Licence
Spit is a macOS application that provides voice-to-text dictation and text-to-speech reading features. You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App on macOS devices that you own or control.
You may not:
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Redistribute, sell, or sublicence the App to third parties
- Remove or alter any copyright or proprietary notices
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
2. Plans and Payments
Spit offers three plans:
- Free Trial: Limited usage at no cost. No credit card required.
- Pro (€4.90/month): Unlimited dictation and reading, subscription billed monthly. Cancel anytime.
- Lifetime (€49 one-time): Unlimited usage, one-time payment, no recurring fees.
All prices are in Euros (€) and include applicable taxes where required by law. Payments are processed by Lemon Squeezy. You authorise us to charge your payment method for the selected plan.
3. Refund Policy
We offer a 30-day money-back guarantee on all paid plans. If you are not satisfied with Spit for any reason within 30 days of purchase, contact us at support@getspit.app and we will issue a full refund, no questions asked.
After 30 days, refunds are granted at our discretion in cases of technical issues that prevent the App from functioning as described.
4. Subscriptions and Cancellation
Pro subscriptions renew automatically each month until cancelled. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account dashboard or by contacting us. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period — you retain access until then.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree to use Spit only for lawful purposes. You must not use the App to:
- Record or transcribe conversations without the knowledge and consent of all parties
- Generate, distribute, or store illegal content
- Circumvent or abuse the free trial system
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our systems or infrastructure
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that transcription results will be accurate.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the 12 months preceding the claim.
8. Changes to the App and Terms
We reserve the right to modify the App or these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of material changes by posting an update on our website. Continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
9. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Portugal, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Portugal.
